For the second year, AultCare awards Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences Scholarships
In addition to awarding scholarships to area high school seniors, AultCare has awarded scholarships to students attending the Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Two different scholarship opportunities (general and minority) were extended to all of the College's current students. The general scholarship's criteria were:
- Must be an Aultman College Student in good academic standing
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Enrolled at least part-time for Fall 2012
- Submit an essay on how this scholarship will assist you in achieving your educational, professional and life goals
- Submit an essay on how you have been involved in the community and how you plan to use your education to be of continued service to the community
To assist the college in obtaining diverse students, the second scholarship's criteria was the same however the applicants had to be of racial or ethnic minority group.
A total of 26 applications was received and considered for the awards. The following students were honored with the AultCare-Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences scholarships: Cathy Turkall (General) and Bonita Lackey (Minority).
Cathy is a first year student. With her nursing degree, she plans to visit schools in the community and educate them on the importance of exercising and eating properly. Her passion is reaching out and helping those in need.
Bonita is a second year student. With her nursing degree, she plans to work in operating room. Patients going into surgery need the utmost critical care and she would like to become a professional nurse to provide this kind of care.
